Jeannine A. Souki : Advisor

Jeannine A. Souki is a government and public affairs advisor for Watanabe Ing LLP. Ms. Souki has more than a decade of government experience. Prior to joining the firm, she managed transportation, parks, land use, public safety and budget matters for a Seattle City Councilmember. As a former senior legislative assistant for a Member of Congress in Washington, D.C., she oversaw a broad range of issues including health, education, welfare reform, and immigration. Locally, Ms. Souki worked as a policy analyst for a Honolulu City Councilmember and a public affairs coordinator for the American Red Cross.
Ms. Souki has been involved in the Asian Americans and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community as an AAPI Caucus liaison and a president of a Congressional Asian Pacific American Staff Association, as a board member of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum based in Washington, D.C. and of the Pacific Island Women’s Association of Washington State. Some of her original projects still have traction in Congress, including a bill to expand Title III of the Higher Education Act, which would establish a federal designation for Asian Pacific Islander Serving Institutions similar to ones established for Historically Black Colleges and Hispanic Serving Institutions.
Ms. Souki received her Bachelors of Arts degrees in Journalism and Communication from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and her Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of Washington, Evans School of Public Affairs.
