Alan J. Ma joined Watanabe Ing LLP as a partner in 2017 as the head of the firm’s Banking and Real Estate Group. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ma was a partner at Durrett, Ma & Lang, LLLP. Mr. Ma has extensive experience in the areas of financial services, real estate development, commercial transactions, business formation and advice, land use entitlements, as well as bankruptcy, foreclosure and real estate related litigation. Mr. Ma also acts as a mediator for cases within his areas of expertise.

He represents leading financial institutions, developers and other commercial entities in Hawaii and the U.S. mainland in connection with major retail, industrial, residential and resort projects in Hawaii, as well as Hawaii small businesses and real estate professionals. 

In addition, Mr. Ma is a past secretary of the Bankruptcy Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association and is on the alternative dispute resolution panels of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii, Dispute, Prevention & Resolution, Inc., and the Mediation Center of the Pacific.
